Porno Teo Kolossal - Tannoiser (2CD Bam Balam Records)

I do not know one Krautrock album that could have influenced this power outing but can name tons of other great stuff that has. There’s Young God’s anger,  there’s hints of progressive heroes like Il Balletto Di Bronzo or Biglietto and vivid memories of the psychedelic excursions Valeri Tricoli sometimes undertakes. It equally builds on the long and dark tradition Italy has in industrial heritage, especially the 58 minute track ‘Deep’ which required a second disk, which is even more noisier and experimental compared to the stunning tracks on disk 1.

Sometimes brutal, sometimes modest nightmarish slug, almost continuously Massimo Divenuto is able to vibe up adrenaline levels to great heights, repeatedly with an almost erotic effect to ensure maximum joy. The mixing on Tannoiser has been done in an interesting way, very direct, without any overdubbing or whatsoever so it sounds. The analogue sound draws an extra dimension, with mixed in, heavily overemphasized cymbals shaping a psychedelic atmosphere with an urgency seldom heard. A sultry exercise in diy bedroom creativity, evoking ferocious dreams of eternal youth and that is spot on what one needs from time to time.

Bam Balam, the French label and record store based out of Bordeaux, France, does definitely not bring kraut here, but one of the most fascinating industrial freakout albums I recently heard. If all of this difficult to categorize progpunk comes as raw, emotional and powerful as this, then please, can I have more of this? PvdG.
